Messe Frankfurt,the company behind Light+Building,is to launch a new lighting trade show in India.
Light India will take place in New Delhi from 5-8 October 2012.The event will be held every two years and the main product groups of the show will be lamps and luminaires.
Wolfgang Marzin,president and chief executive officer(CEO)of Messe Frankfurt,explains that the company has identified Asia as a significant growth region for the lighting industry:"Light India is another important step in our internationalisation strategy and it will strengthen our presence in one of the world's most important growth regions."
India's lighting industry currently has a turnover of$1.8bn and is growing between 10 to 12 per cent per annum.Following the introduction of a liberalised economic policy in India,which gives consumers a global choice of products,the local market has become more international,offering a full range of products and systems.The import of lighting products is estimated at more than$18m per year,growing at a rate of 15 per cent.In addition,duties are being lowered and new technologies are being encouraged.The most important countries exporting to India include China,France,the UK,Germany,Italy,Japan,Korea,and the US.
Light India will be organised by the company's Indian subsidiary,Messe Frankfurt Trade Fairs India,in co-operation with ELCOMA–the Electric Lamp and Component Manufacturers Association of India.
