Frutarom Health, USA, has announced that starting mid November 2012, its facility in North Bergen, New Jersey will begin using its HyperPure technology, which is used to process botanical raw materials.

This move will mark the availability of this technology for the first time in the US.

The company noted processing botanical materials presents a number of challenges such as balancing removal of undesirable contaminants, maintaining the integrity of the inherent multi-component system and medicinal compounds, and protecting the environment during the process.

The EFLA HyperPure technology, which has been developed and patented by Frutarom, ensures that finished extracts fulfil these requirements, the company said.

This technology has been used at the company's pharma grade plant in Wädenswil, Switzerland.

Frutarom Health Business vice president Jeffrey Lind said the technology increases the production capacity, enables the company to respond more quickly customers' demands, and accelerates the time to market.

"The majority of Frutarom's core products are produced using this technology, including: Benolea® (olive leaf), Portusana® (purslane) and Neuravena® (avena/green oat), resulting in ingredients with superior safety and stability," Lind added.

Frutarom, headquartered in Haifa, Israel, develops, produces, and markets flavors and specialty fine ingredients. Its products are produced at its plants in the US, the UK, Switzerland, Germany, Israel, China, South Africa and Turkey.
