US-based global packaging company, Sonoco has announced that it will raise the price for all grades of uncoated recycled paperboard (URB) products by $25 per ton, effective for shipments in the US and Canada from 11 February 2013.
Sonoco primary materials group vice president Marty Pignone said the price increase is essential to recover continued inflationary pressure from non-fiber-related costs, which include chemicals, energy, freight, repair materials, labor and other expenses.
Sonoco, founded in 1899 is a global provider of a variety of consumer packaging, industrial products, protective packaging and packaging supply chain services with an annualized net sales of approximately $4.5bn.
